On September 11, 2014, the Missouri General Assembly successfully overrode Governor Jay Nixon's veto of Senate Bill 841.  This legislation will become law on October 10, 2014.  Bistate Regional Advocates for Vaping Education (BRAVE) previously applauded the General Assembly for passing this common-sense regulation that, among other things, allows Missouri to join the majority of states that prevent the sales of vapor products to minors in Missouri.
Under Senate Bill 841, all Missouri sellers of vapor products will be required to ensure that those sampling, receiving, or purchasing vapor products are over eighteen years of age.  BRAVE has outlined this and the other changes to Missouri law as a result of the passage of Senate Bill 841.  That document is available for download on this web page.  BRAVE has also created a sign that contains the information required by Senate Bill 841.  This sign is also available for download on this web page.  This sign must be conspicuously placed at any retailer of vapor products.  Although these signs will likely be commercially available in the future, this sign will ensure compliance.  In order to meet the statutory requirements, please print this sign in color, full size, on letter-sized paper.  Finally, BRAVE is making a copy of the full text of Senate Bill 841 available for download on this web page.  We encourage all sellers of vapor products to review this legislation.

BRAVE will likely coordinate additional information and/or training as the effective date of this legislation approaches.  BRAVE also encourages all sellers of vapor products to immediately comply with the requirements of Senate Bill 841, including the minor sale prohibition, as opposed to waiting until the effective date.  If you have general questions about Senate Bill 841 or its requirements, please contact BRAVE Legislative Affairs at legal@mybraveaction.org.  If you have specific questions, however, BRAVE encourages you to seek your own legal counsel.
